Storytelling of warrior deeds is central to our tribal identity. The lore surrounding many Native athletes and teams permeates sports conversations far and wide no matter where you are from in Montana. Montana is a "small town" where respect is given to each other through the competitive fields of play - hence the Montana Indian Athletic Hall of Fame has become a juggernaut of athletic recognition within our great state as it was intended to celebrate our tribal narrative from our voices.

About This Event

We welcome you to the 2026 Hall of Fame Induction! The MIAHOF was created by Don Wetzel, Sr. & his son Don Wetzel, Jr. in 2007. The first Induction Ceremony was held in the small conference room at the MT-WY Tribal Leaders Council, where seven legends broke trail for many more to come. We have an amazing line up for 2026 and will be hosting it at the Strand Union at Montana State University campus!

The Hall of Fame brings the past to the present, showing the youth and the native communities the elite legends in our native athletic history! The Hall recognizes athletes, coaches and teams from all sports venues at every level with documented accomplishments. All- State, All-American, State Championships and MVPs. Record breakers and record holders that made their community proud during their amazing championship runs. Keeping stories alive. Our Tribal Athletes and the histories behind their accomplishments are the modern-day lore of tribal deeds & warrior legends! The information we are gathering within the MIAHOF is a beautiful representation of our strong Nations.
